I downloaded second life and started exploring, but i can’t figure out what the point is. I don’t have a clue where to go to meet people, or what in the world the point is. I got really bored after about 30 minutes after the introductory period. What do you do for fun on it?

Whats up with surveys in second life. It says fill out a ’survey’ to make lindens. In reality they are not even surveys they want you to sign up for dating services and credit cards. Then you dont even get paid – im going to start bombarding these companies with fake applications and on each let them know it is coming from second life – such a scam.

The game will last a few minutes all fine..but then it will suddenly freeze, or just glitch and eventuallycrash. I’ve tried to lower the graphics, ext ext…but i cant seem to get it to stop.

I had a hard time getting my mic to work in Second Life. Now that it’s working, it is great fun. I wanted to share some resources for those trying to get started. First, there are voice mentors in-game as well as voice groups listed that can help you. Use search to find them.

There is also a wiki for SL Voice: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Voice

You need to check four things in all. Your Windows audio settings, your SL settings, your sound card settings and check the actual mic for mute button, etc.

In windows audio, check that the mic is not on mute and that boost is off.

Make sure voice is enabled in your SL settings. When changing settings around, you should disable and re-enable voice in SL to reset it and test if the changes worked.

Last, don’t give up. It can be tricky and take time but if you get it going, it can be a lot of fun.
